Hi, I’m Bridget, a Naturopath practicing in my hometown of Port Lincoln, South Australia.

Accredited member and fellow of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. Bridget studied at the South Australian College of Natural Therapies and Traditional Chinese Medicine, graduating with a Diploma of Applied Science in Naturopathy in 1997.

As a Naturopath, Bridget uses her knowledge of the healing power of nature, working with food and diet, lifestyle changes, detoxification, herbal medicine, homoeopathy, supplementation and massage to help clients achieve their best health.

Bridget has a passion for health and fitness, and when not working she enjoys working out, camping with family and friends, cooking, surfing, dancing, and music.

Bridget also runs courses in basic massage and her extensive massage experience allows her to bring her own style into her teaching with an unrivalled level of passion and guidance.

With 25 years in practice, Bridget has become one of the most trusted Naturopaths on the Eyre Peninsula and is committed to helping her clients achieve their best health so they can enjoy life to the fullest.

Born and bred in Port Lincoln, South Australia. I grew up with my single mum who worked hard to make ends meet. I was a very fussy eater and mainly remember eating vegemite sandwiches and tin tomato soup or spaghetti, processed meats and sugary cereals.

I suffered with migraines, eczema, hives, constipation, diarrhoea and parasites to name a few. My first teeth came through black and rotten. Looking back my gut was a mess, but I really knew no different! As I got older I began to experience even more gut issues such as extreme bloating, pain and cramping, candida, anxiety, plus all sorts of infections, and the cold sores and acne started.

I was often sick, and my Aunty always commented on my cold wet nose. If nothing else, being often unwell gave me a strong sense of compassion for others who were suffering and as a child I always knew I wanted to do something to help others. I thought of being a dentist as I absolutely loved going to our school dental clinic. However after watching a root canal on work experience in grade 10, I changed my mind and went back to the drawing board, the school job guide!

I went through the hundreds of job descriptions, not feeling any of them until I got to one.. ‘Naturopath’. I'd never even heard of a Naturopath before but when I read about this profession, where practitioners work with the healing power of nature using iris diagnosis, herbal medicine, food as medicine and lifestyle choices to treat illness and restore health I had a spark inside of me and knew this was my calling!

I clearly remember the day we went to Marnie's Health clinic on Cross roads in Adelaide to sign up for my Naturopathy diploma. It was the most magical shop i’d ever seen, the clinic was filled from floor to ceiling with giant jars of dried herbs and bottles of liquids with strange names I'd never heard before, like Devils Claw, Witch Hazel and Skullcap, Passionflower and St. Mary’s Thistle.

My Mum turned to me with uncertainty in her eyes and a substantial cheque in her hand for my first years tuition. She asked 'are you sure this is what you want to do??' For me it was a thousands times YES! I'd never been more certain of this path that was calling me.

In 1994, at 17 years old I began a Diploma of Applied Science in Naturopathy at the South Australian College of Natural Therapies and Traditional Chinese medicine, on Pultney Street in Adelaide. We had an incredibly diverse selection of lecturers from herbalists and homeopaths to doctors and pharmacists who were passionate and engaging, it was all very new to me and I learnt so much. I became in awe of the perfection of the human body and its innate ability to heal itself, given the correct nutrition, lifestyle and mindset. I learnt that symptoms were the body’s way of telling us that something was not right and I learnt how to understand and interpret these signs to get to the root cause of of the problem. I began implementing changes in my own diet and lifestyle and saw incredible healing take place. It has been an incredible learning journey and I am still constantly researching and furthering my studies so that I can use my knowledge and skills to help others.

‘As a Naturopath I am passionate about helping clients who are experiencing digestive issues, skin issues, stress and anxiety, musculoskeletal and joint pain and inflammation.’

I am very familiar with these as I have struggled with them myself., and because of my own health challenges, I can understand how it affects you. For instance, skin diseases might make you feel self-conscious because of the frequent itching, pain, and worry they create. Through using a combination of food as medicine, lifestyle changes, assessing and correcting mineral deficiencies, detoxification of heavy metals and parasites, plus the support of herbal medicine, homoeopathy and massage, I have personally experienced incredible changes in my health . I am here to help you navigate the myriad of ‘cures’ and latest fads being advertised and support you with proven natural medicines that have been used with great success for hundreds of years.

I work with people of all ages who are looking for a holistic approach to their health care and especially enjoy working with families. I love being part of the Port Lincoln community and helping helping people like you, find your best health.

Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Bridget

25 years in practice

After graduating in 1997 I moved back to Port Lincoln and started a 12 month internship with my mentor and fellow Naturopath Darren Wise at Eyre House. We then moved to practice at the local health food store, Homestyle Health.

In 2000 we set up clinic as the ‘Civic Centre Naturopaths’.

Darren and his family moved to Adelaide in 2002 and I welcomed other local practitioners Sasha Pedler, Marianne Shalburg, Cherie Shepherd to our team of health professionals.

In 2004, I welcomed the first of my three children and I now practice from my home clinic in Port Lincoln.
